Forty‐six percent of all marriages are now remarriages for one or both partners; sixty‐five percent of all remarriages involve children. Fifteen hundred remarriages occur every day, yet the divorce rate for remarriage is over sixty percent. Remarriage divorces occur much faster too: after ten years, 40% of remarriages have dissolved versus 30% of first marriages. These numbers suggest a great need for adequate remarriage preparation—but most remarried couples receive none.
The main cause of remarriage failure is that most individuals are totally unprepared for the challenges ahead. They simply do not recognize that the experience of their previous marriage, whether it came to an end due to death or divorce, will have a huge impact on their new marriage.
